Artist statement
Dún Laoghaire, Ireland
Cian Ó Broin photographs the edge of Dublin Bay — piers, evening swimmers, sodium light on wet stone. He prints in the darkroom at IADT and works slowly, often returning to the same stretch of wall across seasons.
The pictures are uncaptioned. He is interested in looking that does not announce itself: the grey hour after a swim, the empty slipway, a hand on the rail.
